Our proposal for the renovation and expansion seeks to restore clarity and openness, both in the spatial organization of the library and in its material expression. At the same time, the project responds to a fundamental transformation in the way libraries are used. The library of today functions very differently from that of 30 years ago: the range of media has expanded significantly, while changing patterns of study have placed greater emphasis on interaction, collaboration, and diverse ways of learning.
The project comprises 7,600 m² of renovation.
The table creates a stimulating and flexible study environment, offering students a wide variety of settings in which to meet, collaborate, read, and work individually.
The project was designed and executed in collaboration with Pang Architects and was completed in December 2012.
