Book Release:
The Architecture of Housing Co-ops
We are pleased to share the publication of The Architecture of Housing Co-ops: 15 Case Studies in DE/NL by Marieke Kums and Carolin Koopmann. The book explores fifteen realized housing cooperatives—ten in Germany and five in the Netherlands—and examines how collective housing projects are initiated, financed, designed, organized, and experienced by their residents.

Combining detailed case studies, project documentation, floor plans, interviews, and analytical essays, the publication provides insights into the relationship between architecture, governance, financing models, and everyday life within cooperative housing. At a time of increasing interest in affordable and collective forms of living, the book offers a valuable reference for architects, researchers, policymakers, and future housing initiatives.

Published by nai010 publishers, the book is available in English and Dutch and can be ordered here:
